The other day, as I walked across campus, I was approached by a student--let's call him Randall-- who asked if the rumor was true.
"Rumor? About what?" I replied.
"That there's not going to be a bridge from the new TLC...that we're going to have to climb the hill from the bottom floor," was the reply.
Yes, Randall, there will be a bridge.
Take a look at the picture below.

Yes, Randall, there will be a bridge.
Take a look at the picture below.
If you'll look closely, behind the tree at the left of the photo you'll see the edges of the staircase and the landings at each of the four floors. The bridge is going to come off the second-floor landing and provide access to the main campus.
However, it's not going to be a straight shot as originally planned (i.e., directly across from the commons area between General Classroom and SSB). It was revealed, relatively late in the planning process, that a large-VERY large- sewer line runs below the hill between the SSB and the TLC--exactly where the original bridge was going to be placed. There wasn't enough clearance between the pipe and the surface to allow sinking adequate footings for the bridge as originally planned.
So where is the bridge going? Take another look at the picture. See the small stop sign in the lower right hand corner? The bridge is going to connect at that intersection. It'll be a little more of a roundabout to get to the rest of the campus, but it's the best alternative available to us given the subterranean challenge of the sewer pipe.
