Stage Three and WLAC

Thank you for the positive comments I've received on this format of communication.  I'm glad you're finding it helpful.

In a response to a suggestion at Academic Senate yesterday--yes, I'll certainly continue to send out emails when there are of items of particular or time-value importance, and we'll also continue our practice of updating you every week on topics.

Today I want to answer a question regarding the four-stage process, and where LACCD fits into the process. The best way to show this is through a graphic provided by the Los Angeles County Health Department.

You'll see that colleges and universities are in Stage Three.  Yesterday, Governor Newsom officially initiated the start of Stage Three with the re-opening of hair salons, barbershops, retail establishments, and places of worship (but not in LA; our county is one of eleven in the state that still has more severe restrictions due to the number of cases).  However, there is no definitive statement yet about when in Stage Three we can and will re-open--or how long Stage Three will last.

So as of right now, given the Chancellor's directive that we will consider returning to campus only in consultation with the Los Angeles County Department of Health, there is no indication that the original decision to remain online and at home through the fall semester will be modified.
