Last week I had the privilege of attending the 13th Annual African-American Male Summit sponsored by A2MEND:
African-American Male Education Network and Development. In this picture you'll see, on the left, Isaac Williams (majoring in Africana Studies and Music) and Ernesto Yanez-Arnold (majoring in Sociology)--two current students who were presented scholarships. On the right are two former WLAC students and A2MEND mentees, Spencer Prescott and Raynard Williams, who've moved on to pursue their degrees (a bachelor's in liberal studies for Spencer; a bachelor's degree in child development for Raynard).
We're also fortunate to have here at WLAC an A2MEND chapter, started this year by Dr. Walter Jones (who also serves on A2MEND's executive board as its parliamentarian). The local chapter will provide additional opportunities for support of our male African-American students.
Thanks, Walter, for your leadership in bringing A2MEND to campus--and best wishes to Isaac, Ernesto, Raynard, and Spencer.
