Usually, pictures do a much better job than words to describe an event or situation or issue. So I'll let these pictures from our December 18 Food Giveaway to aptly illustrate the efforts of West to provide support for our students in this time of societal upheaval.
Many thanks go to Edna Chavarry, Dean of Student Services; Etelvina De La Torre, Director of the West Los Angeles College Foundation; Angel Viramontes, Dean of Student Services; and multiple volunteers who helped distribute food and computers to 150 students and their families. Also, we're thankful for our new partnership with Melissa's Fresh Produce, which has allowed us to provide vegetables to our students (vegetables were the first choice of products on students' "wish lists" in a recent WLAC survey).
The next Food Giveaway is scheduled for January 8.
