Community Compassion for Our Students

Our food giveaway on Friday, January 22, provided yet another example of the community pulling together to support our students.  This event, which served 76 students and 251 families, "paid it forward" through an anonymous donor whose rationale for the gift was explained in a placard posted at the event:

Here's more pictures of the successful day of providing for our students and their families.

The many products donated to our students by Mixed Chicks

The last two pictures in the above collection represent another reason that our event demonstrated that support for our students transcends the borders of our campus.  Ms. Kim Etheredge, co-founder of the Mixed Chicks hair care company, was actively engaged through the entire giveaway, talking with students and providing them free samples of a wide variety of her products.  Kim was so engaging and welcoming that when she temporarily ran out of product, students returned for the opportunity to talk with her and to benefit from her generosity.  Kim, who is also a member of the WLAC Foundation Board of Directors, provided enough product for us for the giveaway on February 5--and she has pledged that she'll be back.
