The Beatles, Part 2: "Come Together"

Please pardon the increasingly thin allusions to Beatles' songs, but it seemed an appropriate segue from my previous post ("All Together Now") to use this entry as a further explanation of the topics to be addressed by our analysis groups on which we need to "come together" (and I'm now officially done with Beatles attributions; there will be nothing in this blog about "walrus gumboot," "monkey fingers," or "ju-ju eyeballs," all of which figure prominently in the lyrics).

Why "Come Together" as a theme for this posting?  Because we'll be returning to a campus starkly different from the one we left on March 13, 2020.  In order for us to be successful as a "post-pandemic college" we must come together in important campus-wide discussions to review lessons learned and apply them to how best we can serve our students.

As the semester proceeds, here's many of the topics that will be formalized into discussions through our participatory governance system or through one of several analysis groups.

  • Campus budget dialogues/balanced budget
  • “Big Question” on distance learning (how do we maximize what we've learned to improve our students' experience?)
  • Basic needs expansion and funding
  • Impact of the early retirement incentive
  • Recommendations for revisions to participatory governance system
  • Formalized structure for consideration of racial equity initiatives
  • Enrollment initiatives
  • Ratification of Educational Master Plan
  • Future of the Child Development Center
  • Accreditation
  • Two-year academic plans
  • Re-engagement Grid/West’s strategies
I'm looking forward to hearing from all of you as the semester progresses.
