In Recognition of Denim Day...

Today the College and the entire District is supporting the fundamental purpose of Denim Day--to recognize and take actions to eradicate sexual violence in all walks of life.  To this end, the District has joined other educational institutions across the country in the National Action Collaborative on Preventing Sexual Harassment in Higher Education.  This initiative, sponsored by the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine, supports the Academies' recent report--Sexual Harassment of Women:  Climate, Culture, and Consequences in Academic Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine *(2018).  The report found that between 20 and 50 percent of women students and more than 50 percent of women faculty and staff experienced sexually-harassing behavior while in academia.

Of note is that LACCD is a founding member of the Action Collaborative.
